KitKat design images leak, the new version of android with new look

Android 4.4 KitKat images have leaked and clearly shows some design changes to the new version of Android. The notification bar looks a little different in the leaked images and the stock Android apps like message and phone have now got a new user interface, even the icons look a little different.

Samsung to use Aluminium in Galaxy S5

We know Samsung phones are made with plastic, be it high end, mid range or low end, but rumours suggest that the new next high end Galaxy device, Galaxy S5 will be constructed with Aluminium. Reports are that Samsung is working with the company which makes Aluminium frames for MacBook Air, iPad Mini and HTC One.

Microsoft Surface Pro 2 announced

Microsoft announced its next Surface tablet Yesterday, 23^rd September, with two models, Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2. The Surface 2 will be running Windows 8.1 RT and Surface Pro 2 will run Windows 8.1 Pro. Microsoft has improved the hardware specification and also made some accessories for the tablets, like touch cover, power cover and others. The Surface 2 start at $449, with 32GB and 64GB storage options while Surface Pro 2 starts at $899 with 64GB and 128GB configurations with 4 GB of RAM and 256GB and 512GB configurations with 8 GB of RAM.

Microsoft to update Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 on 17 October

Microsoft is all set to rollout Windows 8.1, which will start at 12:00 am on October 18th in New Zealand, that is 4:00 am October 17th in Redmond, Microsoft's headquarters. The update will be free for all Windows 8 users and can be downloaded with the help of Windows update feature.

The new update adds a lot of features to the operating system and some useful tweaks to some of the old ones. The most wanted feature in this update is the start menu, the old Windows start menu is back with Windows 8.1.

Some new add ups to the operating system include the all new Internet Explorer 11, new improved search that will be powered by bing and much much more.

Windows 8.1 coming this September with some updates

Microsoft expected a lot out of Windows 8 but so far things are really not looking good, which pushed Microsoft to update the current operating system. The rumours are that the new version of Windows will be Windows 8.1 and it will be a unified OS, meaning that the secondary OS for mobile devices, Windows RT might get a good bye from Microsoft. Microsoft is all about its operating system and with Windows 8 it is facing financial decline, which is not a good sign.

23GB usable storage in Microsoft Surface 64GB

64GBs does sound a good enough space for a tablet but what if you get only 35% of that space to save your data. A spokes person from Microsoft with a talk with The Verge has confirmed that the users will be able to use only 23GB out of the box with a 64GB Microsoft Surface Pro. Sounds surprising but Microsoft is in a habit of saving backups and restores just in case, you never know with Windows. The 41GB space is taken by the built in apps from Microsoft and recovery partition, aaaah…! the built in apps doesn't sound bad but a recovery partition for a tablet, I think Microsoft is not confident about its OS :).

Windows Live messenger to die in march

Microsoft is all set to end the services of its messenger better known as live messenger or msn messenger. This decision wasn't quite a surprising one as Microsoft's messenger services were struggling to keep up the pace with the likes of other and better services in the market. You can also blame Facebook for this decline with people less in need of an instant messaging service.

bye bye 7, Microsoft Windows 8 is out

The much awaited operating system which is expected to take Microsoft to a new level finally came out yesterday. It was 25th of October, Microsoft made an official release of the next operating system, Windows 8.

Microsoft's main focus looks to be with the mobile technology with their surface tablet starting from $499, but Microsoft has said that the company will retain its commitment towards software development.

Google to Bing to Google a quick comparison

A few months back I changed my search engine form Google to Bing, just to try out something new with web search, its not that I got bored of Google but was looking to test out other options. Bing was surely not a bad option to try out for about 2-3 months but I really missed Google because of some irrelevant results from Bing.

Windows 7 support will end in 2015, XP and Vista ended

Windows 8 is just a few weeks away from the official release and Microsoft has announced that how long it is going provide support for the older versions of Windows. The support for Windows Vista and Windows XP has already ended, support for Vista ended this year on 12th April and XP was ended on 14th April 2009. No worries still for Windows Vista and XP users both the OSs are now in extended support, which will end on 8th April 2014 for XP and 11th April 2017 for Windows Vista.

Some changes in Google search while I was with Bing

A few months back I decided to make a move from Google search to Bing search and test out how good is bing and can web search be something other then Google. I tested out with Bing for around 2-3 months, without using Google at all, but finally I kinda got frustrated with Bing search results and switched back to Google search.

Windows 8 to release on 25th October in New York City

So some official words coming from Microsoft on Windows 8 release, Microsoft finally sent the invite for the Windows 8 launch. Windows 8 will launch on 25th October at New York.

You will find a new experience with the new and cleaner look in the new windows mail more of an inspiration from the Windows 8 Metro UI. It is a lot cleaner and looks a little better than the older version of Windows mail ‘hotmail’, have just made the switch a few days back so the experience has been good so far and Windows has also made some integration to Twitter and Facebook giving some cool options like updating the status right in from the mail and also the ability to chat with Facebook friends on the go without leaving outlook. So try the new outlook and you will have to stick to it because there is no way back ;)

Bing going more social now with search tagging Facebook friends

Well ever thought if you can tag your Facebook friends on your search results and let them also search what u are searching for or may be tell you a more accurate keyword for the search.
We saw Microsoft going social with Bing search with integration with Facebook and Twitter and now they are taking it to the next level to get some involvement from your friends.

Google Chrome finally passes Internet Explorer

According to the latest data from a report of Stat Counter finally Internet Explorer’s dominance on the web browser market ended as Google Chrome took the top spot last week. Chrome is now number one followed by Internet Explorer slipping to the second spot after years of dominance.

Following this is Mozilla Firefox, which is not too far compared to Apple Safari and Opera, which are way back in the race.

It’s time to say good bye to Windows Mobile 6

Now this is the time when the old Windows Phone users will have to make a switch, the ones who are still using a phone with Windows Phone 6.x in it. Microsoft has confirmed that it is finally shutting down Windows Mobile 6.x Marketplace on 17th of May.

So for all those who are still stuck to those old Windows Phones will have to finally throw them away, it might have been one of the high points many years back but now the time has changed so as Windows.

Microsoft Store needs some security in India

The Indian version of the Microsoft Store says, “We're investing in an online store upgrade for customers, and a new and improved site will launch in late 2012.” Now some reports suggest that the Microsoft Store in India was under some attack, it was hacked a few months back in India and from then the site is not live, it has gone under some development.

I think Microsoft is looking to make the site more safe and reliable for consumers and also the developers who put in their valuable work on the site for sale.

Will Google drive kill Dropbox and Sky Drive..?

Google finally announced the Google Drive which was a rumor floating around for a while now and it has turned into an official Google product. Google drive is a cloud storage service more like Dropbox and Microsoft’s Sky Drive.

Now with this launch from Google it has raised a question that, will it be the end of other services like Dropbox which has dominated the cloud storage space without any major competition.

How many versions of Windows 8

Windows has always been full of version, but not anymore with the new Windows 8 Microsoft is looking to cut down on the versions of the Windows. The new Windows 8 will have only 3 (Three) versions, a fairly less number when compared to the availability of the versions of the older operating systems from Microsoft.

The three versions of the Windows 8 are: Windows 8, Windows 8 Pro and Windows RT. The Windows 8 will be the basic version of the Windows which will be available for all the home users and will be the version coming out preinstalled with most of the PC and laptops or available for the buy, the other version is Windows 8 pro for the power users who want more out of their Windows and want to explore all the things available in Windows.

Nokia Lumia 900 is now available on AT&T

So Nokia is sticking to Windows Phone 7 and they added a new number to the Lumia lineup, that is 900. Nokia Lumia 900 is now available on AT&T, if you are a Windows phone lover and don’t want the common platforms Android and iOS then this could be the one for you.

The apps on the Windows phone marketplace is increasing day by day so choice of apps is now not a big reason for not choosing Windows Phone, although the number of apps are hugely lower that the Andro and iOS.
