Pomodoro Technique: This is how I became more productive

What is Pomodoro Technique?

  • Pomodoro is a productivity technique that allows you to focus on a single task for a chunk of time.
  • Original technique is 25 mins of work on a single task, you can modify it according to your own tasks and your concentration span, but research shows that 25 is the right amount of time to continuously focus on a single task.
  • You just need to turn on the timer of 25 minutes and start working on a task and continue working without any breaks as long as the timer is ticking.
  • It is more effective when there is tic tic sound to go with the timer, it gives you the sense of time passing and and allows you to focus more on the task in hand.

How I use it?

I have been using this technique for a few years now, my workflow is such, that I am almost all over the place online. When I am working on something, there are times, when I get lost somewhere is youtube or an article. So I started using this technique to keep myself working on a single task for at least 25 min. In the beginning it seemed like I am forcing myself, but after sometime the temptation to look for a new article or a youtube video slowly started dying and I found myself more productive. You wouldn't even realise, but you will be able to get more stuff done with the same time, you once felt was less to get things done. So get all the items in your todo list and assign them at least 1 Pomodoro session in a day and you will get closer and closer to your end goals.

Apps that can help you

There are many tools that can help you practice this, one of the free solution is Focusbooster, it is available for mac and windows and is one of the best pomodoro technique app available for windows and mac. The other option is for mac users, called Pomodoro Timer, it will cost you $2.99 but it also offers some extra functionalities like Pomodoro goals for the day, and it also tells you how many Pomodoro sessions you have completed in a day. You can surely find many options to try out and you can simply use pen and paper to track the number of sessions and a simple phone timer to track your session timing. It depends on you, what app or workflow suits your needs and make you more productive, but I will surely recommend you to try this technique in your work to boost your productivity. Don't forget to tell me your experiences in the comments section below.

Know more about the technique on it's official site: The Pomodoro Technique

Google Keep- note taking app
Google Keep is a relatively new entry in the note taking space and when it was first launched, I personally thought its of no use. At that time my notes were well kept in Evernote and Springpad and I was not looking for another note taking app, but soon after I just gave it a shot and tried it for some time.

Zynga is not number one Facebook game app maker

Zynga was dominating the game space in Facebook apps until recently, when king.com overtook the market from Zynga. King.com is the company behind mobile game Candy Crush sega and many others.
King.com with 150.4 Million users per month is at number one, leading Zynga, which has 150.2 Million users per month.
The company is going good and investors are now looking confident about companies situation at the moment, with only advertising as the main source of income for the company, the profits are good with lots of users.

First thoughts on Facebook home

Facebook home review
This certainly looks to be a big project for Facebook and I can assure you that the way it is built, it will impress you for the first few minutes. I was impressed with the way it looked and smoothness of the app was awesome, but that was just the first few minutes.

Google keep, do we need it..?

Google finally came up with some note taking service but I am not to sure that it will be able to stay for a long time. This is just another Google product which is expect to end before it even started. Google Keep is not a bad project but note taking is a thing which is well dominated by Evernote and they are doing good with the service, you have clients for every platform and they are all free. Google Keep is all synced up with Google drive and it could be just a little add up to Google's cloud service which some people will love using, specially those who use Google docks to store random thoughts.

Force lock screen to portrait, use apps the way you want

I just updated my device to jelly bean and was very unhappy about the new update disabling the feature to shift lock screen to landscape mode. Just then I realised that I am using android and anything is possible in this app world. Now you might be thinking about rooting the device and getting the access to rotate the screen, but no this thing is possible without rooting the device. I just came across a free app called Ultimate Rotation Control and will just put a link at the end of the post.

EZ launcher to change Android home screen

I have tried out with a new app launcher or home screen (whatever you call it), EZ launcher for a day or so. It is a nice home replacement option, although EZ launcher is relatively new in the market so not much option and features but still enough to be the default home screen app.

TweetDeck app for Google Chrome and a little story after twitter acquired it

TweetDeck was one of my Favorite, in fact the only client I used for a while for Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google Buzz and Foursquare. TweetDeck was quite a popular app and Twitter thought of buying it because people were not landing on Twitter, rather they were happy tweeting from TweetDeck.
