Finding another Earth among dots in the Sky

Go outside and look up at the Sky and start counting the number of Stars. Wait wait, not now, just finish reading this, if it's day outside you will only see one and if night, you will see uncountable number of dots. Now our star, "Sun" has 8 planets (excluding Pluto) and one of them has intelligent beings, "us, Humans". Now think (just little thinking), there are so many stars and like Sun, those Stars also have Planets and could have some living beings, at least in a few Planets.
Finding other planets similar to Earth and looking for life outside the solar system is one of the fields which has fascinated Intellectual minds (if you are reading this you are one of those "Intellectual ones").

Recently in search for finding the Habitable zones, we have started looking into young stars, which is making the search easier. The young stars are hot and the conditions like Earth can be spotted farther away from the parent star. With their location away from parent Star they can be observed with the next-generation of ground based telescopes.
One of the important signs we are looking for, is the temperature of the planet should be able to hold water in liquid state.

A fun fact: Earth, our own planet added water from heavy bombardment of water-rich asteroids. 

So if we are looking to switch planets we can take water with ourselves or may create some water, but we just need it in liquid state, I don't want to switch planets and eat ice or smell vapours when I am thirsty. The search is on for a new place to live and also find some other living creatures.

Life is full of stress and daily life tensions. Life starts up well and as we grow older and older we are more responsible and with responsibilities come Stress. Life is long and we are not perfect and we make mistakes, be it small or big, but we make mistakes and sometimes those mistakes are the ones responsible for the stress. In chasing the perfect self, which is practically not possible, we miss the present.




The present or the moment as it happens, before we realise is already the past. These realisations keep us thinking about the past and what we do at this moment is distorting our future.

When you smile you are triggering chemicals like, Serotonin, Norepinephrine and Endorphins. So what? Ok, so less regulation of Serotonin & Norepinephrine is linked to high stress and depression and if regulated enough can lift up your mood.

In simple words smile more and be more happy.

Smiling and laughing triggers Endorphin which is directly linked to happiness and the amazing feeling of feeling good. Now consider you being able to make someone smile or laugh, how much good you are doing to them, you are helping them to be more positive and happy. Smile is contagious, if you smile at someone they will smile back at you (most of the times).

Terminator Polymer : scientists develop a polymer that heals itself

Well you must have seen some SciFi stuff in movies, like terminator in which the robots or cyborgs, whatever you want to call them, can heal themselves, you hit a bullet, a hole is created and then soon in just a few seconds it gets back to normal.

A Spanish team of scientists have developed a polymer that can just do similar stuff, its not a metal but somewhat plasticky, it is technically called "Permanently cross linked poly(urea-urethane) elastomeric network", in short "Terminator Polymer".

The behind the scene details of the project might be complex for some of us to understand and most surely will be patented so getting to that is a little tough but the result looks cool and that is what matters.

A Giant explosion in Jupiter’s upper atmosphere on 10th September

A Giant Explosion was captured on 10th morning at in the upper atmosphere of Jupiter. According to Dan Peterson Racine, the Astronomer who spotted the explosion, it is most likely the result of an asteroid or may be a comet hitting Jupiter and the flash from the collision lasted about 2 seconds.

Pluto now has 5 moons

Pluto may no longer be a planet but it has got more moons then our earth, it has a list of 5 moons including the 5th one, which is recently discovered by Hubble Space Telescope. Charon was the first moon discovered back in 1978, the next two moons Nix and Hydra caught our eyes in 2006, then the forth moon P4 was discovered last year in 2011 and finally another one with the name P5.

Pluto is growing a good list of moons and theoretically Pluto got these moons with collisions with objects form the Kuiper belt, a part at the end of our solar system that contains small, icy objects.

Higgs Boson took the longest time to fit the standard model

We finally have this part of the Standard Model, the Higgs Boson discovered recently was the only missing part of the standard model. It took us almost 5 decades to discover Higgs Boson from the time it was theorized, it is the longest time taken by any of the standard model particles.

So this is finally official now that the “God Particle” Higgs Boson is most likely discovered. In fact a team at CERN has discovered a particle which is consistent with the properties of Higgs Boson and we are almost 99.999% sure that the particle is Higgs Boson, the one we were looking for.

Still scientist will continue working on this new and remarkable discovery and make sure that the found particle is Higgs Boson or something else.

How close are we to Einstein’s Dream: Is string theory the solution

It was the year 1955, one of the greatest minds ever lived on the planet finally said good bye. That good bye gave birth to the journey of completing an incomplete dream, to find an equation not more than an inch long defining everything that exists in this whole universe, “The Grand Unified Theory”. In the last 30 years of his life Einstein was working on that concept to unify everything that exists as a part of this universe, a theory that could answer every possible question in the world of physics. When he died, on his desk was the unfinished manuscript of that dream which is still alive in every physicist’s heart and brain.

Almost 46 years after his death we still are not sure about the answer, many people believe that if Einstein would have lived for at least 2 more years he would have got the answer. The problem is that the tiny and the big don’t want to be friends or more technically the quantum world doesn’t seem to be connecting with the large object science. We have four fundamental forces, strong and week nuclear force, electromagnetic force and the gravitational force. Main aim of the problem is to combine all fundamental forces in a single concept, which could explain all the forces, and how particles and objects interact using those forces, but how...?
