Pocket - The article saving service now has premium service

If you read articles online, than chances are, you know about Pocket, a service that allows you to save articles for reading later. Pocket is one of the services which I personally love using and if you love reading online and still not using Pocket, I will recommend you sign up for the free account.

Pocket was a fully free service, but now they have introduced a premium service with some additional features for the ones who are willing to pay and want to do more with the app. This is surely fair enough, supporting developers for such a wonderful service.

The plan starts from $4.99/month or you can go for a little more saving with $44.99/year.

bye bye Springpad, closing down services

Just a few days back I got a mail form Springpad, describing that it is shutting down its services from 25th of June. From that day the Springpad will not be available online and the sync services in the mobile apps will stop working. Springpad is now providing the option to save the content by downloading an offline copy of all the content in HTML format, which you can open in any web browser. The other popular option which most will prefer is a direct import to Evernote.

There are rumours that it is more of an acqui-hire by Google and it looks like being conformed by Springpad team that now it is moving to Google. The team will be working on Google’s Play Newstand app, which Google recently launched as its main news aggregator.

Now if you were on a trip with your friends and you all captured some memories of the visit, no need to upload many different albums on every profile ( your own profile and your friends will also upload in their own profiles ) and tag people to let them know. Facebook's new album feature will allow you to create an album and then you can add friends to that album who can also upload to that same album, without creating a new album on their respective accounts.

This is a very nice update, now you will have just a single place to get all the photos from your friends who were on the last trip with you.

Facebook mobile app just for celebrities

Facebook is working on an app exclusively for celebrity,s allowing them to manage their Facebook presence and interact with their fans. The app will be made keeping in mind the social needs of celebrities and what all social tools they need to make better connection with their fans.

It looks like Facebook's strategy to push celebrities to Facebook from Twitter, which at the moment is the favourite choice of celebrities.

According to reports the app is called VIP app and is already under test with a small group of celebrities.

Feedly, the most popular Google Reader replacement and the RSS reader which I use. I have been a big fan of Feedly and I have been using it even before Google announced to shut down Google Reader. Feedly has announced that it will be offering limited lifetime Pro edition service at $5 per month. The Pro service will offer users some features like article search, secure https browsing, Evernote integration and premium support.

Yahoo acquired Rockmelt looks like a mobile future for Yahoo
