Microsoft to update Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 on 17 October

Microsoft is all set to rollout Windows 8.1, which will start at 12:00 am on October 18th in New Zealand, that is 4:00 am October 17th in Redmond, Microsoft's headquarters. The update will be free for all Windows 8 users and can be downloaded with the help of Windows update feature.

The new update adds a lot of features to the operating system and some useful tweaks to some of the old ones. The most wanted feature in this update is the start menu, the old Windows start menu is back with Windows 8.1.

Some new add ups to the operating system include the all new Internet Explorer 11, new improved search that will be powered by bing and much much more.

Windows 8.1 coming this September with some updates

Microsoft expected a lot out of Windows 8 but so far things are really not looking good, which pushed Microsoft to update the current operating system. The rumours are that the new version of Windows will be Windows 8.1 and it will be a unified OS, meaning that the secondary OS for mobile devices, Windows RT might get a good bye from Microsoft. Microsoft is all about its operating system and with Windows 8 it is facing financial decline, which is not a good sign.

23GB usable storage in Microsoft Surface 64GB

64GBs does sound a good enough space for a tablet but what if you get only 35% of that space to save your data. A spokes person from Microsoft with a talk with The Verge has confirmed that the users will be able to use only 23GB out of the box with a 64GB Microsoft Surface Pro. Sounds surprising but Microsoft is in a habit of saving backups and restores just in case, you never know with Windows. The 41GB space is taken by the built in apps from Microsoft and recovery partition, aaaah…! the built in apps doesn't sound bad but a recovery partition for a tablet, I think Microsoft is not confident about its OS :).

Windows Live messenger to die in march

Microsoft is all set to end the services of its messenger better known as live messenger or msn messenger. This decision wasn't quite a surprising one as Microsoft's messenger services were struggling to keep up the pace with the likes of other and better services in the market. You can also blame Facebook for this decline with people less in need of an instant messaging service.

bye bye 7, Microsoft Windows 8 is out

Windows 7 support will end in 2015, XP and Vista ended

Windows 8 is just a few weeks away from the official release and Microsoft has announced that how long it is going provide support for the older versions of Windows. The support for Windows Vista and Windows XP has already ended, support for Vista ended this year on 12th April and XP was ended on 14th April 2009. No worries still for Windows Vista and XP users both the OSs are now in extended support, which will end on 8th April 2014 for XP and 11th April 2017 for Windows Vista.

Nokia Lumia 920 and 820 coming to AT&T this November

AT&T is all set for the new and a different line up to their 4G LTE network, adding Nokia’s Windows powered Lumia 920 and 820. The Lumia 920 will be available with Windows 8 installed, as Windows is releasing on 25th this month Lumia 920 will be one of the first devices to have Windows 8 installed. Lumia 920 has a 4.5 inches Pure Motion HD+ 1280 x 768 display packed in with the power of 1.5GHz dual-core S4 CPU.

On the other hand the Lumia 820 will have a 4.3 inches ClearBlack OLED display with the screen resolution of 800 x 480 and with the same 1.5GHz dual-core S4 CPU this might be low on price compared with its elder brother 920 but is no less in the performance.

MSI shows Slider S20 the future with Windows 8

Microsoft Store needs some security in India

The Indian version of the Microsoft Store says, “We're investing in an online store upgrade for customers, and a new and improved site will launch in late 2012.” Now some reports suggest that the Microsoft Store in India was under some attack, it was hacked a few months back in India and from then the site is not live, it has gone under some development.

I think Microsoft is looking to make the site more safe and reliable for consumers and also the developers who put in their valuable work on the site for sale.

First Windows 8 tablet- HP slate 8 coming soon

So this was coming, we all knew as soon as the Windows 8 ARM version was announced that a tablet running Windows 8 is just around the corner. HP slate is a business end enterprise functionality tablet which will run Windows professional on its 10 inches display.

There are not many specifications available about HP’s Slate 8 but it is expected to pull off a battery life of 8-10 hours running Windows with full touch capabilities and will weigh only .68 kg.

How many versions of Windows 8

Windows 8 is new iPad friendly, can work on that high resolution

The new Windows 8 is capable of handling resolutions up to 2560 x 1440 on screens as small as 10.1 inches, well this resolution is similar to the 2048x1536 resolution of the new iPad with that awesome high res Retina Display.
