get free stuff on Twitter, why users follow brands..?

Twitter reported a few weeks back in a presentation that more than 50% of their users follow 6 or more brands. The report was based on the users living in the US, it also says that almost 88% of users follow more than one brand.
The reason to follow these brands is to get some freebies, discounts and also early access to some exclusive stuff from the brands. I think this is a good enough reason to follow a brand on Twitter, you just need to hit that follow button and ignore some irrelevant tweets from the brand. (☞ﾟ∀ﾟ)☞
